Somerset Yurts is situated on Hill Farm, an arable and dairy farm in the Quantock Hills. We are around 5 miles north of Taunton, the county town of Somerset.
You will find your yurt nestled in a beautiful, peaceful field that boasts stunning, uninterrupted views over Taunton Vale and the Blackdown Hills beyond. In such serene surroundings you’ll soon unwind and find yourself immersed in the countryside.
Moonslade was our very first yurt. We picked blue as we thought this would be a calm and relaxing colour, reminding us of the blue sky we craved when we were working and living in a city! The field Moonslade is named after is the big field to the left of the barn.
Most Mongolian yurts in Mongolia are orange, so we had to have an orange yurt! Probably the brightest yurt inside with a really sunny feel. We picked Furzeclose field for its name, as Furze is an old English name for Gorse, which has a golden flower, matching our golden yurt.
This yurt is named after the field the yurts look out over, and you will often see our herd going in and out of the field for milking in the morning and afternoon. The green roof poles inside give a very calm, peaceful feel, and the green door blends beautifully into the country landscape.
This beautiful yurt, being furthest from the barn is often favoured by couples looking for a romantic getaway. It’s such a romantic yurt, we’ve even had a couple get engaged whilst staying here, and they are returning this year to stay in Cherrygrove Yurt for their honeymoon!
New for 2017, this beautiful yurt is set in the field next door to the yurts, next door to our Geodesic Dome. Locally made over the border in Devon, this yurt has a very different character to the Mongolian yurts, but still has that wonderful zen feel that yurts have.
Our newest addition to our yurt family, is not actually a yurt! It’s geodesic dome, but the yurts don’t seem to mind 😉 At 6.5m in diameter, this is a really spacious dome, with a fabulous window, perfect for sitting and admiring the beautiful Somerset countryside, or for some evening star gazing.
