Somerset Yurts is set on our dairy farm at the foot of the Quantock Hills AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty). The Quantocks were actually the first designated AONB, and are a truly breathtaking part of our countryside in the South West.
Cothelstone Hill is just 5 miles / 15 minute drive away, and well worth a visit while staying at the yurts. It boasts one of the best vantage points in Somerset with 360 degree views across the Somerset Levels, the Mendips, The Blackdown hills and Exmoor National Park.
There are a number of walking trails to explore, picnic spots, and fantastic opportunities for wildlife spotting with Badgers, Deer, and Foxes all regularly being seen, as well as the resident herd of Exmoor Ponies grazing the hill.
Our children love the walk to the top of the hill, spotting the ponies and climbing on the cluster of rocks at the top – even on a cloudy day, it is a stunningly beautiful place to visit, and breathe in all that fresh air.
If you fancy a bite to eat after your walk, we recommend Pines Cafe en route back to the yurts, where they serve some great home cooked food to help you recharge.
